The Messier's description

Amas de très-petites étoiles, près du pied gauche de Castor, à peu de distance des étoiles m & h de cette constellation. M. Messier a rapporté sa position sur la Carte de la Comète de 1770. Mém. Acad. 1771, pl VII. Rapportée sur l'Atlas anglois. 

A cluster of very small stars near the left foot of Castor; not far from the stars m and h of that constellation. M. Messier reported its position on the Chart of the Comet of 1770, Mem. Acad. 1771, pl. VII. Reported on the English Atlas. 

Ammasso di piccolissime stelle vicino al piede sinistro di Castore, non lontano dalle stelle m & h di questa costellazione. M. Messier ha riportato la sua posizione sulla Carta della Cometa del 1770... Riportato sull'Atlante inglese.
